Solar Goals

Ambitious, creative and inspiring… I love this fascinating short video about how arctic sea ice data (and mounting electricity bills) prompted this Washington DC family to switch to solar, and consume as little as possible.

While the world moves away from fossil fuels and considers the onset of the green energy transition, the Swedish government plans to tax solar electricity. (That’s right – tax the energy that the sun gives us for free.) Since summer 2015, a discussion has been ongoing about proposing a tax on solar electricity supplied by producers with an installed power capacity greater than 255 kW. I find it mind-boggling that policy-makers think a tax is compatible with green energy goals. The incentive and interest in investing in solar is so much less attractive given this disappointment development.
